Cancer effects the lives of almost every single person I know; its most terrifying form coming forth through the devastating nightmare of overtaking the life of a child.
I have seen homeless people in every single major American city I've visited. I see kids walking to school without warm clothes, in the dead of winter. I see elderly, frail people suffering from the cold.
I know there are children who have no where to turn for help with something that may seem simple to someone else, desperate to get a simple answer or learn a basic skill.
It has been said that people generally support causes close to their hearts.
Thankfully, these horrific causes are only close to my heart because they are distant from my own life. I have 2 wonderful, healthy sons Those I love have shelter and warm clothing...and the people and kids I know have mentors, teachers and parents to help them grow.
